Araripe manakin
(Antilophia bokermanni)


A critically endangered bird from North East Brazil. Because of its helmet-like crown it has received the Portuguese name soldadinho-do-araripe which means "little soldier of Araripe”. It was only discovered in 1996 an are estimated to be 50-250 left in the world. Save the Araripe Manakin! Sir David Attenborough is championing the survival of these blighters.
